Parking in Kempwood

Street Parking

Kempwood sees a lot of guest traffic, and often cars can't be parked in the garage or up the driveway. The City of Houston has a few laws that may apply to your car or those of your visitors.

For instance, it is illegal to:

    • Park blocking the sidewalk.

    • Park on the street within 15 feet of a fire hydrant. (That's about the length of a compact car or SUV like a Mazda CX-5 or Honda Civic.)

    • Park on the wrong side of the street (with the car facing against traffic).

    • Park on the street for more than 24 hours.

    • Park over a bicycle lane.

    • Park on the street with the right side wheels more than 18" from the curb, or leaving less than 10 feet available for passing vehicles.

    • Leave a vehicle sitting on the street solely to display for sale.

In addition, the State of Texas prohibits:

    • Parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk.

    • Parking within 30 feet of an intersection with stop signs or traffic lights.
